Aunty Killers

I recently accompanied my mum to a wedding reception where you are bound to get your cheeks pinched by at least 5 old ladies accompanied by the standard line

"wahhh, you are so big already..the last time I saw you, you were so small.."

& As usual, when the card states 730pm, you'll only get a sniff of the food at 9pm. So while waiting for the VIPs (very INCONSIDERATELY-late people) to arrive, my mother was gossiping animatedly with her friends (one aunty brought her 70 year old mother), while a couple of the uncles went out for a smoke.

The 70 year old lady was rather quiet until she suddenly sprang to life when the aunties started talking bout Korean TV serials.

"my mother loves watching Korean serials"...one aunty explained.

"the Koreans are getting quite good at making tv serials"...added another aunty

Having watched my fair share of Korean serials on tv, I found their conversation a lil more interesting...so I listened on..

"the Korean girls are so sweet & pretty"...said another aunty

"the Korean guys are not too bad as well"...added another aunty

*middled aged aunties giggling together*

"my mother actually likes one of them...mum, why don't you show us your boyfriend's picture?"

With this, the 70 year old lady took out a passport sized magazine cut out of RAIN!! Then said...

"Rain is so handsome. The other day I saw him on tv, he danced so well...can beat Micheal Jackson"

There has been quite alot of hype bout Korean dramas & it's actors being "aunty killers"...but i wonder what these actors have to say bout 70 year old fans adoring them like schoolgirls do...

Vege-ism

While having lunch with a friend one day, I wondered aloud…

“Why do Indians always over cook their vege?”

My lunchmate decided to humour me with his 2 cents theory & replied…

“You know how most Indians are vegetarians?”

“yeah…” *curiously raising an eyebrow*

“Well, it shows that they are humanitarians & since vegetables are living things too, they wanna make sure that the vege are fully dead before consumption, so the vege doesn’t suffer”

“……………so u mean to say that Chinese stir fried vege are half dead?!”

“aiya, we Chinese eat anything & everything like that dish where the fish is served on the plate still alive or monkey’s brains…etc”

“But then Malays like eating kerabu…that’s raw vege!!!”

“It’s a massacre I’m telling you!! The same goes for salads”

Ashlin did not touch her vege that day.

My mother tells me the strangest things…

…at the strangest times.

I was having early dinner yesterday when my mother suddenly told me…

“Did you know that Aunty so & so is so brave that she can catch a lizard & breaks the fella into 2 with her hands?”

“…erm mummy I’m having dinner”

“Oh but she uses a tissue”, she adds with a very as a matter of fact tone.

I then told the lizard on the wall…
“You’re one lucky bugger to not live in Aunty so & so’s house”

The lizard made that *tic tic tic* sound…I think it was agreeing with me.




Then one night before my parents went out for supper & left me home alone…

“Do you remember Uncle so & so’s apartment which we stayed in when we went up to Genting last year?”, mummy dearest asked.

“Yeah…Why?”

“Aunty so & so had an encounter with an evil presence there, it locked her in the room”

O_o …lalalalalalalalala think happy thoughts ashlin think happy happy thoughts…wheeee

Sensing my sudden silence…

“But she said she heard God’s voice guiding her”

“How is she so sure that it was God’s voice?”

“I don’t know, oh well it might have been another spirit but she claimed it was God.”

O_o *gulp*

“Oh don’t worry, things like that only happen in weird places…btw, don’t wait up…we’ll probably be back late”

…yes Ashlin did not get much sleep that night…

p/s- my mother also said "Do not go clubbing...you'll get bombed"

Phatty Talk

Some friends have been commenting that i've been posting pictures of food ranging from Dunkin Donuts to Ramli Burgers...so SUE me! i'm a Malaysian & i live to eat!!

while i get comments like...

"How the heck am i supppose to diet when i see all those food pics?"

I tell her...

"WILL POWER! WILL POWER! WILL POWER!...er or just plain indulge...like me"

WHAT?! if u can't beat them, join them :p... where do u think Ashlin gets all her fats!!

I'm wasting time online again. I should go study...but i'm so lazy... i ought to be shot...it's 61 days to bloody exams...i repeat..61 FrUCKIN days to exams!!! This countdown is suppose to scare me into studying but now it just a number to me...sigh. i need something to scare me silly.

May was telling me how her degree qualified colleagues didn't believe her when she told them she has more time & life now working than when she was an ACCA student. I'm telling you...BELIEVE IT!! & stop telling me to enjoy my student life damnit!!!

sigh...i better go study...life's a bitch...

Not too bad weekend

I was expecting yet another topsy-turvy weekend where all my appointments clashed...but it turned out pretty alright after all.

Mum dragged me for some charity haircut & makeover by A Cut Above Academy on Saturday morning...they didn't screw up my hair *pheew*

I wanted to party the nite away at Poppy with the guys but i had class at 8 freakin AM the next day *bummer* :(

But, i had fun fun fun... dinner & celebrated my birthday(more of an excuse to pig out :p) somemore with my VI crew : Bitchy Ben, Gelabah Agi, Jungle Mei, Hyppo Shanti & Baldie Jayan.with all the added calories...

Sunday morning came & thank God I was awake & could concentrate in class despite getting only 5 hours of sleep thanx to the mozzie in my room. Class was supposed to end at 5pm but we finished our syllabus at 1 & the lecturer let us go!! YAY!!

So I got to meet my cousin, U-Jen who came down from S'pore & her husband Andrew in Mid Valley. Went shoppin a bit. Got the pink toe socks i wanted ...YAY!

& I finally got the 3.3 textbook from Rais, so Ashlin can study...YAY!

Damnit...i need to sleep... O_o O_o O_o

A friend called earlier to rant & bitch about a colleague... the kind who pretends to be nice & later steals your ideas & gets all the praises & pats on the back by the boss.
