Ian & me in Genting-Sept '84

My cousin's visit prompted me to look for old photos....this is the only pic i could capture clearly with my lousy camera phone since i don't have a scanner. & one of the only few pics where we weren't staring daggers at each other!! hahahaha

Anyways, tonight i went out for dinner with Ian & Nish. Had a great night talking & laughing (at each other most of the time).

The Bully & the Biter

I finally watched Mr & Mrs Smith on Friday night, missed the first 5 minutes. There wasn’t much of a storyline, but I enjoyed the movie. My interpretation of the movie is that a lot of people base their relationships on pretence, but the true relationship only begins once you get to know the person.

Then on Saturday, Neville, Guang Ming, Rais & I got conned into going for Sri Aman’s charity concert. It was a family day event, the beginning of the concert was pretty crappy with boy bands & hip hop groups wannabes (contenders of the Blast Off ), but in the end bands like Estranged, Dragon Red, One Buck Short performed & it wasn’t too bad.

The highlight of the week had to be the meet up with my Australian cousin whom I’ve not met since I was 2. We never kept in touch all these years & he’s here for work for 2 weeks. The only recollection I had of him (bear in mind the last time I met him I was 2 & he was 3) was that he bullied me & the only recollection he had of me was that I bit him!! Haha now this “bully” is 6’2” & I feel like a hobbit next to him. So I took him around, shopping & stuff. I kinda expected him to be this quiet, serious person but I’m glad he’s not! He’s quite a fun person & I sense a lil mischief in his character….i think it runs in the family….unfortunately height doesn’t :( … his sister (3 yrs older…whom I have never met) is a 6 footer!!! Ian, if you ever read this, it was really fun hanging out with you :)

Starlight Cinema

Today, Jason saved me from boring my eyeballs out for lunch. & we got caught in a jam outside & inside Midvalley’s carpark. It’s a blardi Tuesday afternoon; don’t these people have jobs??!! Then we found out that it was J card members’ sale day & we saw scores of people buying what looks like things that they don’t need & would last them 3 lifetimes because it was probably 10 cents cheaper than the normal price, which might have been the best buy to them!

Anyways, we had lunch at this place called Shokudo which serves Thai + Jap fusion food. I was thinking they’ll probably serve Tom Yam sushi or Cricket Tempuras…but I was quite close….they had Tom Yam Udon etc etc etc…. the food was good or maybe I was hungry. Well what ever it is, fusion or not I classify food as yummy or yucky….this one was yummy to me. Some friends who have heard about my cooking would probably tell you that my cooking is only for the adventurous… but those who have tried my cheese wantans survived & always ask for more…

After ranting about the Starlight Cinema for so long, I finally got someone to go with me. I got invites to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy & I dragged an equally excited Nisha with me. We went early, checked out the booths, got our pictures taken (my face looks distorted & Nish complained her head looks small….so I’m not posting it up!), tried our hand at the games booth…ring tossing, ball throwing & darts…won small gifts (lil notepad & pen). & we waited, & waited & waited for the movie to start. Since it was opening night, we had to wait for the KL mayor to officiate this & that…speeches bla bla bla… then there were performances, comedians, psycho G supposedly spinning (quite obvious it was a playback) & they had Shufflers shuffling to the music.

Finally when the movie started, it drizzled!!! Luckily it was just a few droplets & it stopped after a few minutes. The crowd really came prepared, quite a few came with coolers full of beer, the guys sitting next to us finished a bottle of wine before the movie even started, and some had picnic baskets with crackers & cheese with grapes!! As for the movie, I won’t say much knowing some of you will kill me for spoiling it. I found the movie choppy with lil bits here & there. Marvin the big headed robot is depressingly cute & I still don’t see the significance of the towel! Overall, the movie was silly but entertaining.

I quite like this Starlight Cinema, will probably go again except the movies this year aren’t that enticing. Anybody planning to go? …give me a call :)

Btw, MNG sale starts 22 June…shopping anyone?

Weird 6

Last night…or more like this morning, while I was flipping through the papers, waiting for the US Grand Prix to start, I came across a picture of a 6 legged puppy found in Klang!!! The cute lil bugger really has 6 legs!! Not only does it have 6 legs, it has an extra penis as well! I wonder if it can walk properly with all its 6 legs…can it scratch itself with the 2 extra legs? Maybe I should go to Klang & check it out.

Unknown to me then, the number 6 was also going to be a significant number in the weirdest & very frustrating Formula 1 race I’ve ever watched. Only 6 cars (Ferrari, Jordan & Minardi) raced…I don’t think I should even call it a race!! All 20 cars were on the starting grid for the warm up lap but the 14 Michelin runners drove into their garages instead of taking their places for the race. Due to unsafe tyres, Michelin advised all teams using Michelin to withdraw. It was a sensible thing to do as it would have put the drivers in danger of racing on faulty tyres coupled with the one set & one type tyre ruling. Despite the pleas from the 7 teams to rectify a dangerous chicane for the Michelin runners, FIA totally disregarded it as an unfair move towards the other 3 teams on Bridgestone.

I find the FIA extremely rigid with its rules. This is not a matter of biasness; it’s the matter safety of the drivers. Not allowing teams to change faulty & possibly fatal tyres, ignoring pleas to enforce safety measures on the grid (even though the 7 teams said they will race & forgo points for the sake of showmanship for the spectators if the dangerous chicane was rectified). The worst part was, they kept the fans in the dark about this. Frustrated spectators threw bottles & beer cans on to the track & most of them walked out in disgust. These people came from all over & they paid good money for it!! & I stayed up to watch, expecting a good race & got utter rubbish instead!

Fete de la Musique

I met up with Kah Mei & Agi today. I haven’t seen these 2 for quite sometime & we finally got catch up & gossip over lunch. Girls, it was good to see you 2 *hugs* I swear you 2 are harder to catch than the PM!! :) We better meet up when Ben’s back in KL. Mei, enjoy your camp & Agi, good luck for your job! Oh btw, I’m stil a lil spooked out by the ghost stories.

Later, I went down to Bukit Bintang to join Jason, Ruzian@”Rose”, Amin & Rais at the Fete de La Musique. The weather today was atrocious & all of us were just melting in the heat!! But the music was good…caught a lil here & there…the Aseana Percussion Unit’s collaboration with Jabba was fantastic!!! Too bad they only performed one song. Then there were some French, Italian or Spanish (I’m not sure which) & African songs, caught a lil copoiera, Vanna doing some “jungle” music…missed a few performances…oh well. & out of a stroke of pure luck, I won an MP3 player *woo hoo* for answering “what’s the death ad page called in the NST?”…I answered “c”…to tell you the truth…I’m not sure what was the answer I chose…hmmm I think its tender something *grins*

Anyways, I’m all drained out…only had 5 hours of sleep…so goodnite…oh no wait…there’s Formula 1 later.

Party Bones

Last night the ACCA gang really partied it out at Zouk. Those I normally see so engrossed, studying at the library really let their hair down & we partied til the lights came on & the music stopped. As one of them said, “The library group is being UNLEASHED!” I saw a couple of familiar faces, exchanged the usual “yea we’ve met before” & partied on. It’s been awhile since I last clubbed, & suddenly when some guy told me I’m 19…..i didn’t know whether to take it as a compliment or feel insulted.hahaha

Anyways, thanx Matt for putting me on the guestlist *hugs* I didn't have to line up with the crowd. The dance floor was too jammed packed for some of our likings. I guess Zouk’s really cashing in on their name, with the exorbitantly priced bottles & all. Overall it was a good night out. *hugs* to Brandon too for being the excellent driver & party kaki.

To the ACCA gang, seniors…good luck! & to the rest, see you in 2 weeks.

Bored Stiff...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My exams ended yesterday but oddly enough I’m not feeling as relieved as I thought I would feel. Thinking back, I have no idea as to how I really fared…unfortunately I have a naggy feeling that I just might not be able to graduate by the end of the year :(

Anyways, I have a stinky 2 & half weeks hols & my mum already gave me a list of chores (yes, Ashlin does house chores!) to last me til probably next year!!! Since most of you will be busy with work, or will not be in the KL, I’ll probably have to make do & rot at home.

I went out for dinner with Nish last night & she was telling me about her new job. While all you working folks are complaining about work, I cannot help but wonder when my working life would actually start. I’m starting to feel a lil too old to be a student. That’s probably why that damn fat Indian (I’m not being racist…jus a matter of description!) college guard always stops me & ask if I’m a student!!

Just yesterday he stopped me yet again when I was entering the side gate…..”student ar??”. Already jittery that I was having a paper in less than 20 minutes, of the whole throng of students going through the gate he stops ME!!! I wanted to scream “WHICH PART OF ME DOESN’T SAY STUDENT??!! My baby tee?? My jeans?? My trainers?? The bulk of notes I was carrying?? Or is it my nerdy specs??!!” Dammit, next time he stops me, I’m gonna tell him I’m the damn principal of Sunway!!

Neighbourhood warning!

My neighbour’s car windscreen was smashed at around 6 am this morning by 2 motorcyclists. They took his Smart tag. This was witnessed by another neighbour’s maid who said it happened so fast she didn’t have the time to warn anyone.

A couple of weeks back, yet another neighbour’s car was broken into. & to add, a couple of months back there were 2 Indonesians rounding the neighbourhood on motorcycles with parangs…looking for people to rob. A neighbour nearly got her fingers chopped of when she got out of her car to open her house gate.

Damansara Heights people…..be careful!!

test test....hmmm i've finally decided to export my blog to a less resticted space. i hope this won't fail me.....anyways welcome all to my spanking new bloggy! feel free to flood my chatter box or leave me a comment :)
